Looking for new clients has been a fascinating, frustrating, exciting and pretty much rewarding experience. It took me three months (really, truly more like 11 months) to get going on prospecting, but when I got started things really popped. I sent out a mailing and got great return and then closed most of the responders. It’s hard to cold call and reach out to strangers, but it’s ultimately wonderful to meet new people who value what you do. Let’s face it, whether it’s husbands or kids or employers or clients, if you’re around too long, you’re going to be taken for granted. It’s just the way of the world. New people value us and that’s always a good feeling.
